I'm happy to announce that production of the pins has officially begun at my manufacturer's.
We ended up unlocking a total of 15 pins through the Kickstarter (8 more than I panned for originally!), my manufacturer and I have decided to start early to ensure that I can stick to the original timeline I had planned. The first step after my designing the pins is working with the factory to create the final files that will be used to create the pin moulds. I send my designs over without colour, and the factory artists have begun to create vector files from those to be carved into either iron or zinc blocks to create the moulds.
The next step for me is sending over coloured designs, outlining the specific enamel fill colours and areas. I do this using the international standard Pantone system, which allows me to communicate exactly the colours I want to my manufacturers. Each colour in the Pantone system has a corresponding code indicating a specific blend of pigments, which the factory will use when mixing the enamel colours. This system eliminates colour errors due to screen discrepancies, lighting and material, so I always do it! I use the following poster to pick my colours from and it has a huge number of coated Pantone swatches and codes. It's not an official Pantone swatch book (which are a little out of my price range, haha), but the colours are quite accurate to the real things. Along with the colours, I send over some other specks like metal plating colour, posts, backstamp and clutch types... And things are just about ready to go!
Doing all this at this time allows my manufacturer to set everything up on their end prior to mass production. The only thing left is the quantity of each design to be made, which is where backers come in! The results of the BackerKit surveys will allow me to determine how many of each design to tell the factory to make, which will hopefully happen very shortly after the surveys are sent out. I'm planning on having the BackerKit surveys sent out by April 21st, depending on the progress I can make with the team at BackerKit. All backers will receive an e-mail and update here when they are, so please keep an eye out! The sooner that people answer the survey, the sooner I can give my factory the go ahead on mass production.

And the Kickstarter is officially over for the nostalgic 2000s anime pin set!! Thank you everyone so much for the support!! We raised just over $22K CAD in our 25 days and I'm just so humbled and grateful.
I'm going to continue to work hard over the next few weeks to get the pins in hand and out to everyone as quickly as possible! As mentioned in the most recent update, I've started the first phase of production already hopefully will give the go ahead for mass production within the week.

Again, I really can't thank everyone enough for their confidence in me and for their contributions to the project. I set out to make these pins mainly because they feature the shows that I personally liked and wanted to see more pins of, and ended up here with 419 of other people who liked them too! Being an artist and small business owner while being a full time student in healthcare has never been easy for me, but this project has really brought me hope and confidence in the fact that my long days of work are worth it. So thank you for following along, reading these updates and being on this journey with me!

These early bird tiers will not be available after the campaign (NOT available on BackerKit) is over so now is your best chance if you're interested in receiving more pins! As always, you're able to select any combination of pins that add up to the amount you pledged for, and can add pins as add-ons through Kickstarter or BackerKit.
On my side of things, I'm almost finished finalizing pin colours and have begun production on some prototypes of the vinyl stickers. I'm very excited to share the final results with you all :)
